Meet ROCKY
Rocky
Breed - Mixed Lab Cross
Size - Medium/Large
Sex - Male
Age - 4 years+
Rocky is a lovely dog who needs a quiet and calm home environment.
He has always been moderately anxious since he came to us almost 4 years ago, but he's become increasingly stressed in our home which is busy and noisy with 4 high octane children. Days at home alone with adults he is fine, but when the kids come home he's obviously stressed around three large, boisterous boys. We also have a 2 year old daughter who he adores, but she doesn’t wrestle about or make noise in the house like the boys do. He's shown resource guarding behaviours when fed, exacerbated by the busy nature of our home, but this has been controllable.
Rocky needs an adult-only home with a patient and calm doggy person. He's very responsive to treats and we've been working with a behaviourist who says he's extremely clever and would be easy to train to a high level, it's just the environment makes calm consistency so difficult.
He's fun and playful, but very adaptable in terms of activity - he can happily do a long walk up a mountain or just a run around and loves to fetch sticks, but can equally spend the day on the rug. He's toilet trained and walks fine on the lead with a Halti. He's only reactive on walks if other dogs bark or show aggression first. Our dog walker takes him out with a different gang of dogs each week and he always runs around and has fun. He walks well off lead, and does recall, but sometimes not easily without a shout if he’s busy with something. At home he likes to cuddle once he grows to trust you and will play fetch or tug of war with anyone who is willing. He’s a lovely soul and deserves a place where he can settle and be calm and happy without noise or disturbance”
