Meet Max
Sex: Male
Age: 1 Year
Size: Medium
Meet Max. He is a black lab type neutered male who is a year old. He sadly got returned as he was reactive towards strangers in the home. Hardly surprising when we spent most of the year in lockdown. Max went off to his forever home as a 4 month old and he went off a confident pup but sadly his behaviour was not addressed properly, and his reactiveness in the home was getting worse. He was not able to be let off lead on walks either.
He has been in foster and has been a good boy. He’s clean in the house, been crate trained since being in foster and takes himself off to the crate even when door is open. He happily sleeps and eats in his crate. He’s quiet all night until morning and isn’t an early riser either. Max is off lead and his recall is pretty good, although it still needs a little work to get him to come immediately. He’s been brilliant and is loving his ‘pack’ walks with his doggie friends. Max is brilliant with other dogs but as he’s young he does love to play. Since he’s been in foster they’ve had several visitors, some have stayed 10 minutes, some have stayed over night and some have stayed a few hours and he’s exactly the same with all, on first meet he is a little reactive and will bark but will do no more than a bark and after a few seconds he will approach you (even better if the person has food!) and is quite happy after a few minutes and will allow strokes, a few minutes later he is all over you! He does take a while to get used to new people walking around the house and can be a little nervous at first but improves over time.
Max will need some more work with this and we will happily support anyone with this and offer on-going training but it’s easily managed and he is improving everyday. He is amazing with children and loves her however we will only consider homes with 1 child who is dog savvy or older children as he doesn’t need a manic household. Max walks well on the lead and gets on well with every dog he meets. Max is not cat friendly so no cats. Max will need a resident dog to live with as being with other dogs in the household has definitely helped him and is gaining him more confidence each day. The ideal dog would be a young playful dog as as he’s still young he loves to play.
Max really is a loving sweet boy who really does deserve the best. If you think you can offer Max his forever home please fill in an application form. Max will require several meet and greets so ideally someone fairly local would be perfect.
