Who we work with

We could not do what we do, without our volunteers here in the UK and the other people we work with, both here and in Romania.
Dogs Walk This Way Rescue works with 3 trusted rescuers in Romania who collectively have over 1000 dogs in their care. They deal with the heart-break and the horrors on a daily basis, and we are truly grateful for the work they do in getting dogs to safety.
We have an amazing UK Vet, Gill from Windlesham Village Vets who checks over all our new arrivals and continues to offer support and guidance to us and the new owners after thee dogs are adopted.
We also work with behaviorists, Dog999 who helps us assess some of the dogs and offer their expertise to owners of our rescues at a special rate.

Our Romanian Rescuers

Crina Maria is a dedicated dog rescuer.
She has saved thousands of dogs from death over the years, from the streets and kill shelters and is truly a special person.
She works full-time with disabled children and runs her private shelter of 200 dogs with just one full time staff member to clean and feed the dogs. Crina goes to the shelter before and after work to help, and spends her weekends there.
It's exhausting, but she won't give up on the dogs!

Anna Mary has been rescuing dogs for many years. She has such a passion to help that she took out a loan to set up her private shelter 4 years ago - even though it means she's in debt as a result. She has over 80 dogs in her care, including some of our kill shelter dogs that she fosters and rehabilitates until they are ready to find homes with us, in the UK.
Anna's mother and father work at the kennels. She has a full time job working with children with disabilities, but Anna she still manages to go to the shelter most days, as well as feeding the stray dogs on the streets daily!
She's an incredible human being and visited Rachael in 2018. It was her first trip to the UK and she got to see first-hand how the dogs she saves get to spend the rest of their lives in loving homes.

Ana Grasu worked at various rescues around Romania and was driven to start her own shelter in Barlad by the overwhelming need to save dogs there.
She has invested her own money into her shelter and encouraged her family to do so too, Last Hope 2 Life is one of the leading dog rescues in Romania and is currently home to 750 dogs!
Ana works part time as an accountant and spends the rest of her time either at the shelter, or on the streets rescuing dogs. She is a force to be reckoned with and is on a mission to get public shelters to treat dogs more humanely.

Windlesham Village Vets

We have a wonderful relationship, and friendship with Gill from Windlesham Village Vets, who together with her team, has supported us for 5 years.
Gill is outstanding and always on hand day and night to answer any emergency questions we have. She goes way above and beyond the call of duty of any vet. She offers us reduced rates, mostly at cost and often does things for free for the charity.
She has treated many of our dogs and we would always recommend any of our local adopters to use this amazing friendly practice. We really couldn’t do what we do with Gill, she is a guardian angel for our dogs.
