Meet Olive

Sex: Female

Age: 1 year old

Size: Large

Meet Olive! Olive is nearly a year old and a large lab mix. Olive is a very sweet girl who’s super intelligent! Sadly she was returned after 6 months in her home as she bit someone whilst on a lead. (Not sure this was managed the right way and happy to go into detail with anyone who’s interested) Olive can be wary of some strangers but has welcomed over 25 volunteers here with no issues. She generally shys away at first and pretty submissive but once you feed her, she’s your best friend and cannot get enough of you! She is extremely affectionate and wants fuss and cuddles. She loves nothing more then to think she’s a lap dog!

Olive can be quite strong so is walked on a halti. She is amazing with other dogs but can be quite playful. Never had a cross word with any dog she’s met. She loves zoomies and we’ve started doing off lead work with her on a line and whilst her recall does need improving she does stays pretty close and is definitely better walking with other dogs. Olives perfect home would be adult only (she has been around children and is ok) home where she will continue to get lots of exercise. She would be better with a confident, playful, sociable dog as this will only help her with her progress. She has been no bother whilst she’s been back with us however the new owners must be experienced.

Olive needs firm boundaries and someone who will teach her rules of the house but in a kind and fair way. She is certainly not a dog who does well with no guidance as she will run hoops around you, given the chance! She’s got so much character and has been a pleasure to have back however we can see just how desperate she is to have a family that she can call her own again! She can be left for up to 4 hours with no issues but being a young dog needs distractions and stimulating, therefore to be left with things toys, stuffed kongs, treat balls, antlers and buffalo horns.

We feel that there is the right family out there for this gorgeous young girl who with the correct training and boundaries put in place will make the most amazing loyal friend.
