Sex: Female
Age: 7 Years

Rosa arrived to us around 4 and a half months ago and we were told she was an older friendly girl so agreed to help her, however she has not be striving since coming to the UK. Dogs can change or react differently in new environments and she wasn’t handled much in Romania, only by a few people who lived at the shelter. She was always ok with those people as they were ‘her people’.
When Rosa arrived, she was ok for a few days then sadly she bit someone on the back of the leg, unprovoked and from nowhere. This changed her and she then became very vary of all new people. Sadly for Rosa, as we had nowhere for her to go. So, we drove 4 hours to a well-known rehab centre and while they did lots with her, their conclusion was after 3 months that she was a dog that didn’t cope with multiple handlers.
We made the decision to go and get her as we had already spent nearly £2,000 on her being there, and we believed that kennel life wasn’t the best thing for her. She arrived 4 weeks ago to our founder's home where she has come on leaps and bounds, however, she is still unpredictable with some people. She loves who she loves and when she does love you, boy does she love you! Some of our volunteers have bonded very well with her but she isn’t good with new people or people who aren’t confident.
Rosa has so many good qualities. She LOVES all dogs and is so good with every dog at her foster home or that she meets on a walk. She walks regularly with our founder's pack of clients dog’s and enjoys her walks. She is clean in the house, can be left for 4-5 hours with no issues whatsoever. She is crate trained too and ok with cats. Sadly because of her unpredictability she will not be able to be around children. Rosa is so desperate for her person. She will steal your heart (and maybe your sofa!) and when you have that bond, you can literally do anything with her! She isn’t funny around food and she loves a fuss and a cuddle.
Rosa’s anxieties around people can be easily managed; for example if you have people over who are not going to be frequent visitors then as long as she’s been walked she can be left in her crate/or separate room with no issues, also if you have someone over who is going to be a frequent visitor then you can get Rosa to meet them for a dog walk and do slow introductions until Rosa has ‘approved’ them! Rosa seems totally fine with people out walking but doesn’t really approach people, she walks past them happily with no issues. Sadly not all of our volunteers want to deal with her as she can be unpredictable but there are also probably 10 plus people who adore her as she does them! Rosa really is the loveliest dog and she’s so easy.
Rosa lived in a shelter for most of her life and is around 7 years old but she really deserves a nice home full of love and she will pay you back a million times over with cuddles and kisses! Rosa’s ideal home would be an active couple and or person on their own who don’t have loads of visitors who wants the company of the sweetest dog ever who’s clearly had an awful past and just needs an understanding home. Her rescuer said she feels we’ve done everything for her and said to send her back to Romania, this is not something we will do, ever! We do need Rosa sorted though as it does make it quite hard managing other rescue dogs who need us as we rely heavily on our volunteers. She really is a wonderful dog and we know that there is a home out there for her. Please share and help find Rosa her forever home.
