Lucy is a work in progress but is making great strides in foster (For one with such little legs). She is going to need time, consistency, and dedication to help her get things right.
She isn’t yet 100% house-trained, and her foster has been working hard on this with some success. Lucy has now started to ‘ask’ to go out, but this isn’t a done deal yet and can be hit or miss.
As a dedicated people-pleaser, she can be anxious when left alone so would benefit from someone who is around most of the time or a doggy companion. She happily sleeps through the night in her crate in the bedroom. However sleeping elsewhere in the house needs some work.
Lucy hasn’t had much socialisation in the past and she can be barky with new dogs and people especially in enclosed spaces. Luckily, she loves food, so well-timed treats help enormously.
There are so many positives to Lucy. She is a funny, happy, and loving little girl. She is beginning to recognise her name and come when called. She divides her time between snoozing and ‘zoomies’. She’s inquisitive, loves to cuddle, walks happily on a loose lead, and is relaxed when handled by people she knows.
Lucy would benefit from a home with a calm confident dog to help her socialise more and who already have an understanding of Dachshunds although this is not essential.
Could you be the perfect home for Lucy?
